About Me

Hi, I'm Zach! I was born in Fremont, CA and grew up in Sacramento. I attended Stanford University for the past 4 years, fostering the discovery and love that I have for computer science that I wasn't afforded in high school. I studied as a software engineer with a focus in Computer Graphics. I love working with cool consumer apps and softwares that put people in awe. I am full of ideas and really love to see the transition from idea into final product. I have experience working with a variety of programming languages and frameworks. I have experience with full-stack mobile and web development. I have also worked with many graphics tools such as Blender and Houdini. Within those tools, I have also had the pleasure of creating custom effects like advanced Ray tracing. I have built a foundation on my Graphics and AI knowledge through linear algebra. I am always looking for new opportunities to learn and grow as a developer. I am proficient with and have experience with C++, C, Python, JavaScript, Typescript, React, React-Native, Node.js, SQL, and much more.

Greenlight (2024)

Greenlight is a dating app aiming to change the framework of traditional messaging based dating apps. I wanted to maintain the convenience that comes with digital dating but bring back the fundamental in-person nature of dating that makes relationships from current dating apps unsuccessful.

As this was my first venture into app development, I learned many things in regard to the whole app development cycle including design, feedback, and development. However, I believe my most important takeaway from this project was the transition of my leadership skills into a professional context. I was fundamental in the division of labor conversation and heavily invested making sure our team met deadlines.

Focus (2023)

Focus aims to serve as a productivity aid. As students, we wanted a method to convert the mess that is our busy calendars into action to prevent our own procrastination. We include features such as an AI assisted calendar planner, but the flagship feature comes from taking calendar items / new tasks and presenting them in a dating app swiping format that allows us to choose a task to complete. As decision fatigue is real for busy people, completing any task is better than procrastinating everything.

Houdini (2024)

I took my dive into animation using houdini, learning and understanding the process that animators use to create movie and game effects. I took particular interest in applications of vellum and flip to create particle fluid animations.

Graphics Principles (2021-2024)

As a computer graphics major, I learned various rendering lighting methods including ray tracing, bling-phong-reflection, transmission, shadows, and, bsdf rendering. Furthermore, I worked with meshes and created mesh algorithms such as subdivision and extrusion from the ground up using the mesh element pointer system.
